weekends with Tater

Tater helped me find a new place over the past few weeks. This one has a nice, quiet area with plenty of room for Tater walks. Here she is, surveying the side yard and downstairs neighbor happily strumming his guitar. I look forward to being in a home instead of a large apartment building and enjoying a little more quiet. Yes, the commute will be longer to work but at this point, that's something I'm willing to sacrifice.

Now comes the part I like the least--packing! If only Hogwarts were real and I could develop magical powers to instantaneously move all of my items from one home to the next. Alas, this is not so and so I must bear this excruciating task until its completion.

goodbye GFC, hello bloglovin'

Well friends, the retirement of Google Reader is upon us as of Monday, July 1st. I have been using Bloglovin' since the announcement of Reader's retirement and I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised. I had signed up a while back and didn't use it much...because...well...Google Reader is already built into my Blogger account. However, it's not so bad to have one more website to check! I encourage you to use Bloglovin' (or another RSS equivalent) to continue reading Tater&Emily and I will do the same for you. Click on the graphic below or in the side bar to follow me.

twitter makeover with ghtr

A while ago, I had subscribed to the Roost Tribe, a monthly subscription in weekly installments for graphics, how-tos and recipes. I love it! Bonnie runs it and she does a fantastic job of making new things each week. I recently made over my Twitter page with some of her peony graphics and I wanted to share it with you all. Aren't the graphics great? You can also check out my twitter page here.

enjoying all that summer has to offer

Ah, the bonfire. Quintessential summer activity. It's been far too long since I've enjoyed one of these. As the flames roared up and the heat flared out, I felt grateful for what the past few weeks have brought. A new apartment. A new someone special. A new space to hang out in and people to get to know. Although the next month and a half is going to be incredibly busy with moving to my new digs, a friend's wedding and a training, I enjoyed this moment of stillness in the heat of a flame.

bay area vacation 2013: part 1

It was raining when I left Logan Airport and although it was night time when I arrived in SFO, it wasn't raining and the temperature was more tolerable.
I continue to be impressed by Jeff's aquarium. The colorful fish and corals are breathtaking.

Some flowers set up for the party.
A very neat cigar box!
Three dogs, a nod to their former pugs Buster, Liza and Julia.
I helped prepared the grilled tofu for the party after Jeff marinaded it.
Nothing burned, either!
The next installment will include more photos of the tiki bar.

I don't know about you guys, but the weather has been in the 80s and 90s here this past week. Tater had her first doggy ice cream dish of the season the other day. Boy does she love it.

crafty time weekend

Hi folks! Do you ever have one of those days where you are so sick of all the unfinished projects around the house that you feel overwhelmed? I had one of those days today! It was really hard to pick which to work on, but once I did, I had a lot of fun putting them together.
First up was creating some pillows to put up on my shop. It's been sewn and stuffed for months but I finally sewed it shut today. This is the first of many cloud pillows I plan to put in my shop. The ecospun felt is charcoal gray and filled with polyfill. You can see the listing for it here.
Second up was creating the first of a few state-shaped corkboards. I have seen various DIYs of these on Pinterest and ended up with this. I thought I would do Oklahoma in memory of the devastation of the tornados (OK strong!). I really like how it turned out and have a few more states in mind to finish up.

What crafts or projects did you finish up this weekend?
